KISSI-CHOR - Advent Concert

Dec 16, 2024 | 08:00 PM

Unusual programs with sophisticated choral music are the concept of the Kissi CHOIR, whose motto “from Renaissance to Pop” has been delighting audiences for many years. The varied repertoire of this ensemble from the City-West music school includes music from the Renaissance to modern times, spirituals, new music, but also arrangements of folk and pop songs. Every year, the singers give numerous concerts and performances in Berlin and the surrounding area as well as in other European countries, for example in Vienna and Helsinki. On several occasions, the choir has performed improvisational sound pieces for performances of Friedrich Murnau's “Nosferatu” at the Berlin Silent Film Concerts. Several commissioned compositions by the Greek composer Eleftherios Veniadis are dedicated to the choir. Since its foundation in 1991, the choir members have been coached by the singer and qualified vocal teacher Fanny Rennert. She is an honorary professor at the Berlin University of the Arts and was head of the renowned Julius Stern Institute for the Promotion of Highly Talented Young Musicians at the UdK and lecturer in guitar and guitar methodology until 2024. In addition to her diverse artistic and music education activities, she is a sought-after juror and jury chair at numerous competitions.

At its traditional pre-Christmas concert at the IBZ, the Kissi-CHOIR will present music by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Zoltán Kodály and international Christmas carols, among others.
