VICTOR NICOARA (p) - Ferruccio Busoni: a Berlin composer on the 100th anniversary of his death

Nov 07, 2024 | 07:30 PM

Born in Italy, Ferruccio Busoni was one of the most extraordinary personalities of the early 20th century. Not only a celebrated pianist, teacher and thinker, but also an extremely original composer who united musical tradition with the radical developments of his time. On the 100th anniversary of Busoni's death, the Berlin-based Romanian pianist and composer Victor Nicoara presents surprisingly versatile original works as well as arrangements by Busoni alongside those of the composers who were most important to him: Bach, Mozart and Liszt. Grammophone Magazine and the Süddeutsche Zeitung praised Nicoara both for the “wealth of imagination” he brings to his interpretations and for his “great sensuality of sound”.
